Keeping Time

Keeping Time, structures of time during a fluid year, is a mixed media installation, which includes video, digital images, and sculpture all made during 2020. The 366 days of this calendar year sparked an investigation into various pictorial configurations of time. Searching for stability in the face of uncertainty, I was drawn to the standardized markings of time. Delineating days and months, hours and minutes became a way of measuring the immeasurable. I began notating the waxing and waning of light during the 24-hour cycle as a way of syncing my sense of temporality with that of the solar system. The works in this show attempt to address the particular tension and alchemy that arises between what is knowable and quantifiable and what is not.
